Why We Created JoyfullyFit 365
Now in my 40's, I'm in the best shape of my life—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
But it wasn't always this way.
Years ago, I was doing everything the fitness world teaches... to the letter:
"Just eat clean 24/7 and train hard! And if you truly want it, you'll make whatever sacrifices it takes to get what you want. Hustle and grind."
(At least that's what my certifications taught me and what every fitness magazine and guru promised.)
I meal prepped every week. I hit the gym 6 days a week for 90-minute sessions, including daily cardio. I said "no" to pretty much every restaurant invitation and family gathering. And, the ones I did go to, I ate like a fitness monk.
And it worked... for a while.
I finally got the flat stomach, the muscle, the confidence I'd been chasing.
But I was exhausted. Always having to push myself, stay motivated, keep grinding.

After nearly a year as a trainer, I had to switch jobs for more sales and management experience.
It was only short term and even though I was still working out, I couldn't keep up with the insane demands I'd put on myself as a full-time personal trainer.
The body fat came back. Even a good bit of muscle disappeared.
Our 2006 Jamaica photos showed the crushing truth: After we got the photos developed from the local Walgreens, we were excited to check out the photos we all got and relive the vacation a bit more together.
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. There I was in an underwater photo, holding a conch, looking like someone who'd never seen a healthy meal or a gym.
After all that sacrifice and rigid discipline... and a flabby belly and semi-fit arms were about all I had to show for it.
I realized right then and there, I'd had a temporary makeover, not a transformation.
Dang!
I didn't have the mindset, habits, or goals that aligned with lasting change.
I felt like a failure. My confidence disappeared just as fast as it came.
That crushing disappointment became my breakthrough.
