Low Calorie Dieting leads to a slowed metabolism and can actually make you FATTER due to a process known as "metabolic adaptation" which is a defensive state our body goes into when we've crash dieted, dieted for long periods or battled yo-yo weight loss patterns.

  • Strict, Low Calorie diet habitstypically cause more loss of lean body mass compared to a slower fat loss process, which then causes the metabolism to slow further since there’s less thermogenic (fat burning) tissue. Fat is much less thermogenic than lean body mass.

  • Disordered eating and poor relationships with foodis commonly learned with ease from restrictive diets. This is a major recipe for yo-yo weight loss for the rest of your life

  • ​Long periods of dieting at low calories slows the metabolism,(by adjusting to conserve energy) and is the body is primed to uptake more fat when food is too limited. Each time we diet, we risk gaining fat even easier than the time before.
